New 20-Story Student Housing Tower Breaks Ground in College Station, TX

The Penny, a new 20-story student housing tower in College Station, TX, broke ground this past week. Rhode Partners is the architect and interior designer on this premier student housing project that will accommodate 605 students in studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom configurations with bed-to-bath parity, including townhomes. Shared amenities will include multiple study spaces, a resort-style pool, a pickleball court, a state-of-the-art fitness center, package lockers, an automated market, and a dedicated pet area.

Responding directly to the site's shape and zoning, the project’s architecture features large red and bronze window panels that move across a dramatically rounded façade in gradients, creating a push-and-pull movement on the tower's exterior. Rhode Partners' design for the interiors gives a nod to Texas A&M's signature shade of maroon, paired with a warm palette of bronze finishes, woven textiles and sculpture, and custom millwork.
