Icon tops Out
September 15, 2024
Icon has achieved a significant construction milestone this week by topping out at 300 feet. This 193,000 nrsf student housing tower will accommodate nearly 555 students in the heart of the University of Texas at Austin’s West Campus. The development includes four levels of below-grade parking, 28 floors of residential apartments, and two amenity levels situated at the top of the building. Completion is scheduled for next summer, in time for the fall 2025 semester.
The project team comprises experts in student housing, with Park7 serving as the developer. Since 2012, Park7 has developed $750 million worth of student housing properties across nine college towns in the country. This will be their first student housing tower in the growing West Campus neighborhood, adjacent to the University of Texas at Austin. The project also involves Hoar Construction, which recently collaborated with Rhode Partners on The Loren at Lady Bird Lake.
Once completed, Icon will stand as one of the tallest towers in the West Campus area, offering a variety of floor plans ranging from one to five bedrooms. Amenities will include a rooftop pool, fitness center, game and lounge rooms, a podcast studio, and student workspaces. Icon will also mark the ninth student housing project designed by Rhode Partners in the West Campus neighborhood.
